LANGUAGE AND LITERACY

EightCAP, Inc. Head Start classrooms are alive with literacy; buzzing with sounds, letters, words and books!  Walk into any classroom and you’ll see happy faces of children having fun with language and literacy.

Trained teachers provide children with an organized system of learning which includes many daily opportunities for:

• language
• listening
• rhyming
• talking, and
• reading!

Children in our classrooms read symbols, environmental print (e.g. print we know because of it’s color & shape, like AMcDonald=s), their names, each other=s names and other familiar words.  They learn through hands on play and interaction with teachers who recognize their skills and challenge them to achieve the next steps. 

EightCAP, Inc. Head Start believes that children must learn to read to be successful in school and life.  We are continuously working to improve the language and literacy skills of children.  Stop in and read a book with us!
